Guqin ist ein siebensaitiges Instrument mit einer etwa 3000-jährigen Geschichte, wobei es seine Form seit 1600 Jahren beibehalten hat. Die Guqin ist ein Instrument, das in der chinesischen Kultur, Musik und Geschichte eine ganz besondere Stellung einnimmt gegenüber allen anderen Arten von Musikinstrumenten. Sie ist nicht nur ein Musikinstrument, sondern beinhaltet auch die gesamte chinesische Kultur, Kosmologie und Philosophie. Um die Guqin herum hat sich ein reiches ideologisches System und verschiedene Übungsformen entwickelt. Dies alles wird zusammenfassend als Qin Dao (die Überlieferung der Guqin) bezeichnet.

Eine Guqin in der Hand zu haben, ist für einen Guqin-Spieler gleichbedeutend damit, einen lieben Freund zu gewinnen, oder auch ein eigenes Stück des Universums zu besitzen. Guqin Musik basiert auf der Beobachtung und dem genauen Studium der Muster und Rhythmen, auf denen das natürliche Universum und damit auch der Mensch basiert. Das Ziel der Guqin ist es, einfach “gespielt” zu werden, oder anders gesagt, mit ihr zu üben. Während wir mit dem Instrument üben, bilden wir eine tiefe Verbindung mit unserem inneren Wesen sowie dem Universum durch die körperlichen Bewegungen des Spielenden sowie den Fluss der Töne auf den Saiten. Ein Guqin-Meister drückt seine emotionalen Gefühle aus und kommuniziert mit seinem inneren Seinszustand durch den Klang des Instruments, und lässt dann die Musik seine innere Welt führen, transzendieren und transformieren. Auf diese Weise ist die Guqin für einen Guqin-Spieler Teil eines täglichen Rituals.

Guqin is a seven-stringed instrument with a history of around 3000 years, although it has retained its shape for 1600 years. The guqin is an instrument that occupies a very special place in Chinese culture, music and history compared to all other types of musical instruments. It is not only a musical instrument, but also contains the entire Chinese culture, cosmology and philosophy. A rich ideological system and various forms of practice have developed around the guqin. All of this is collectively referred to as Qin Dao (the tradition of the guqin).

For a guqin player, holding a guqin in their hand is like gaining a dear friend or owning a piece of the universe. Guqin music is based on the observation and precise study of the patterns and rhythms on which the natural universe, and therefore also human beings, are based. The aim of guqin is simply to be "played", or in other words, practiced with. While practicing with the instrument, we form a deep connection with our inner being and the universe through the physical movements of the player and the flow of the notes on the strings. A Guqin master expresses his emotional feelings and communicates with his inner state of being through the sound of the instrument, and then allows the music to guide, transcend and transform his inner world. In this way, the guqin is part of a daily ritual for a guqin player.

Linchi wurde in der Stadt Chengdu in der Provinz Sichuan von mehreren Guqin-Professoren im Konglin-Guqin-Pavillon im Wenshu-Kloster ausgebildet. Aufgrund seines fachlichen Hintergrunds in chinesischer Literatur, Philosophie und Religion widmete sich Linchi dem Studium von religiösen Ritualen, ritueller Musik und der Beziehung zwischen Konfuzianismus, Buddhismus und Taoismus. Aus der Perspektive der Musik, der Situation und des Rhythmus des Körpers als Ausgangspunkt erforscht er die Guqin-Praxis sowie das Verhältnis zwischen Daoismus und Guqin. Seit 2019 organisiert er verschiedene Konzerte, Workshops, Guqin-Unterricht und andere Aktivitäten in Deutschland und hat ein Guqin-Studio sowie verschiedene Bands gegründet, um Guqin-Musik und Guqin-Ästhetik zu verbreiten.

Linchi was educated in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan province by several Guqin professors at the Konglin Guqin Pavilion in the Wenshu Monastery. Due to his professional background in Chinese literature, philosophy and religion, Linchi devoted himself to the study of religious rituals, ritual music and the relationship between Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Using the perspective of music, the situation and the rhythm of the body as a starting point, he explores Guqin practice and the relationship between Daoism and Guqin. Since 2019, he has been organizing various concerts, workshops, guqin classes and other activities in Germany and has founded a guqin studio and various bands to spread guqin music and guqin aesthetics.
