The Iraqi oud player Raed Khoshaba plays a program with his own works as well as works by Jamil Bashi and Iraqi folk songs.

Raed Khoshaba studierte das Instrument Oud am Konservatorium für Musik Bagdad bei Salem Abdul Karem. Schon während seines Studiums spielte er in unterschiedlichen Formationen in und außerhalb des Iraks. 1992 schloss er sein Diplom-Studium mit Bestauszeichnung ab, 1997 absolvierte er sein Bachelor Studium in Musikwissenschaft an der Akademie der schönen Künste in Bagdad. Sein erstes Musikalbum „Strings of Soul“ produzierte er 1999 und erzielte damit das meistverkaufte Musikalbum des Jahres. Seit 2000 setzt er sein musikalisches Schaffen in seiner Wahlheimat Deutschland fort, seit 2014 lebt er in Essen. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kulturbüro der Stadt Essen gründete er 2016 eine Schule für Oud und orientalische Musik. Die Schule bietet die besten Bedingungen für alle, die sich für die orientalische Musik über das Hören hinaus begeistern.

Raed Khoshaba studied the oud at the Baghdad Conservatory of Music with Salem Abdul Karem. During his studies he already played in various formations in and outside Iraq. In 1992 he completed his diploma studies with top honors, in 1997 he completed his bachelor's degree in musicology at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad. Since 2000, he has continued his musical work in his adopted home of Germany and has lived in Essen since 2014. In cooperation with the Cultural Office of the City of Essen, he founded a school for oud and oriental music in 2016. The school offers the best conditions for all those who are enthusiastic about oriental music beyond listening.
